Getting married at St Mary's or St Martin's, Stamford
A church wedding is a very special and poignant occasion and we welcome enquiries from couples who would like to get married in either of our churches.
To be married in a Church of England church, you need to provide a 'qualifying connection' with the parish. There are various connections that can be made: If one of you has: - lived in the parish for a period of six months or more at any point in your life - was baptised in the parish - was prepared for confirmation in the parish - has at any time regularly attended normal church services in the parish for a period of six months OR One of your parents (at any time after you were born): - has lived in the parish for a period of six months - has at any time regularly attended normal church services in the parish for a period of six months OR One of your parents or grandparents: -was married in the parish. We are very happy to talk you through these if you are unsure. |
How do I apply?
In the first instance, we welcome enquiries by telephone or email to establish a connection. Please contact our Benefice Administrator, Jo Gompertz 07444 459341 (Office hours - Friday Mornings) stamfordbenefice@gmail.com Once we have asked you to fill in and return the relevant form, we will then contact you to organise a meeting, to talk you through the process and begin planning your ceremony. It is not usually possible for divorcees to remarry at St Mary's or St Martin's whilst the former spouses are still living. In these circumstances, we would be very happy to talk to you about a service of dedication and blessing after a civil marriage. We look forward to hearing from you! |
